Allium

Allium is the Latin name for the onion genus but actually derives from the Greek αλεω, to avoid, because of its offensive smell!! and it includes the various edible onions, garlics, chives, scallion, spring onions and leeks.
Smelly the bulbs may be, but the complex flowers are undeniably pretty.
