Sint-Nicolaasbasiliek

This photo of Saint Nicholas Basilica was taken on my way to my second monthly VVAO meeting at de Schreierstoren this evening. The church is directly across the street from Amsterdam Centraal Station.

Originally the neo-baroque and neo-renaissance style church was called St. Nicholas Inside the Walls because it was inside Amsterdam's original defense walls. The church was built between 1884 and 1887. In 1999, both the interior and exterior of the church were restored. The architect, Adrianusa Bleijs (1842-1912), was a Dutch architect and painter who designed several catholic churches.

The guest speaker for our meeting was Olga Missioura who is currently working on PhD research in the field of leadership, decision making, internal control, management control, corporate governance in SMEs in Netherlands. She is a very accomplished woman, having previously completed two masters degrees, one in law and the other in communication-information studies.
