Wings of Freedom

It's memorial Day weekend here in the U.S., and in the SF Bay Area most years that means we see (and hear) WW II era aircraft flying overhead. The Wings of Freedom tour offers 30 minute flights from nearby Moffett Field. The B-17 Flying Fortress pictured here makes a very distinct rumbling sound that can be heard from quite a distance. I can only imagine how dreadful that must have sounded for those in the target path during the war... but here today it's just a reminder of the past.
