Impressions of Buckland Abbey

The bank holiday weather made us decide to visit Buckland Abbey where we would be out of the rain at least part of the time.
Naturally as it was the home of sir Francis Drake the national trust have majored on his life and achievement, providing a rather glamourised life story video of a man, who was in reality the most successful pirate of all time!
He came back from his round the world voyage with £25 million pounds worth of stolen booty in his ship,a feat that no other pirate has come close to since!
I have to admit to a little bias here, as one of my ancestors came to England on one of the Armada gallons, and was shipwrecked off the coast of Scotland.
It's certainly an impressive place with an immense tithe barn, and some amazing flowers in the garden, well worth visiting :-)
