Stornoway Port

Today's the day ....................... for the city lights

We continued our journey northwards today starting with the ferry from Berneray across the Sound of Harris to Leverburgh.

As with all the other ferries we have taken on this Outer Hebridean trip, this was a MacBraynes car ferry. It was remarkably busy considering it seems to go from the middle of nowhere to - well - the middle of nowhere. But, of course, it meant that we were on the biggest island which contains Harris and Lewis.

And after a few hours on a bus, we arrived in Stornoway - the biggest town of the Outer Hebrides. Having spent the last few days being somewhere where very few people live - this came as a bit of a shock!

This was taken in the very busy port area. You can just spot a very large ferry on its way to the mainland - over the shoulder of this statue of The Herring Girl ........................
