A Day out in Winchester

Today has a been a fairly chilled day - late morning we headed out to Winchester. We went to uni first to pick up my weight in books (believe me thats pretty hefty) for the next chapter of my dissertation. Then headed into Winchester. It was such a lovely afternoon after what has been an exhausting and weird work week. My hubby and I have the next 5 days together and I can't wait - although its just us, I feel like I have been neglecting him of late as I have been so consumed by work and my MA. We just leaisurely had some lunch overlooking the cathedral and just spent some time catching up and having a natter which was really nice. I need times like this so I feel connected again.

Then we headed down to the Winchester City Mill - weirdly hubby and I had a really lovely time. Being National Trust members we got in free - always a bonus. Then we saw the mill working and them baking with the flour. It was such an insight and not something I would of thought we would of enjoyed, but it was good. Hubby likes all the workings of the mill and all the cogs and wheels etc. My rather bad photo is of the water area downstairs - I was hoping to capture the otters that have been residing down there but no such luck. So tried this shot handheld - not ideal. After buying some souvenirs we headed for a drink as it was raining so hard. A perfectly chilled afternoon which we both needed and thoroughly enjoyed.

This week has been weird because:
* I had pigeon come into where I work and hide in the blinds and needed my caretaker to get it out. I named him Percy. This happened on Mon
* Tuesday - my Head was out (normally when everything bad happens) and in the afternoon a sudden fire alarm happened. Noone knew why and had the fire brigade come out, check why, poor kids had to wait outside for over an hour, alarms affected the security alarm and phone line so getting hold of the alarming company was tricky. Fireman couldn't find the issue so left the building and children in my hands! Scary stuff but luckily the alarming guys could find the fault! Thank goodness
* Then the police were called at school because we had a neighbour issue.

So all in all an eventful week and I am so glad its now half term. Happy bank holiday weekend folks!
