The Beobab Tree
Trees over 100 years old are venerated here and are very much part of the local cultural continuity. Villagers place messages in tubes or on slips of paper and attach them to the trunk of the tree. They do this in the hope that the spirits of the ancestors who lived with the tree in the past will make wishes come true, or that someone who is sick will be healed. I'm sure that many are answered.
