Completely Confused

I have been waiting and waiting for these flowers to bloom. We got them last fall during the garden sales. You see, we had some of these lovely flowers in the first garden we had when we moved overseas. They would bloom, and we would put some in a vase in the house. The fragrance was so strong that you could smell them all over the house. So, since today the flowers finally opened, I went out to smell them, and they have no fragrance whatsoever! They are still beautiful, but I am quite disappointed! On another note, these are supposed to be peonies, and the center of them looks completely different.
