Angels and Demons
Quick visit to Coventry Cathedral on our way home this afternoon.
Disappointingly we arrived half an hour after the Cathedral closed to visitors BUT we were able to go to a choral evensong service so we got to see inside anyway.
The shell of the old bombed out Cathedral still remains and I nearly did a blip from there. Right next door is the new Cathedral which was consecrated exactly 52 years ago today! How's that for coincidence?!
I'm not sure about Coventry Cathedral. It's very ... concrete. I did like the stained glass windows and the huge glass window between the old and the new.
I attach a link with a bit about the sculpture I've blipped - http://www.historiccoventry.co.uk/cathedrals/st-michael-devil.php which is mounted on the outside wall of the Cathedral.
An addendum to this blip: we saw some white block in the old Cathedral and wondered what they were all about. Watching The One Show tonight we found out. They were setting up for a world record dominoes run (is that the right phrase?) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KDNm9ZXc5AQ.
