Much too much traffic in town for the holiday--all the roads to the beach are gridlocked--even the more inventive short cuts won't work today. We made the mistake of running fruitless errands in the afternoon, less to accomplish the tasks than to get away from the noise of the roofers next door. They are into their second long and noisy day of sawing and banging and yelling and nailing, and it is a big and very damaged roof.
