Back in time

This shows a sheep being sheared in the traditional way using hand shears.

We were at the Shipston Wool Fair where there was every breed of sheep you can imagine. The shearing demonstration was really interesting. The shocking thing was how cheap the fleeces were. The whole fleeces were being sold for £2.

In a time trial at the end the shearer managed to shear a whole sheep in 51 seconds - and he still had all his fingers at the end!
