Simple Things
I meet up with a friend to do a walk similar to the one we're doing in a couple of weeks as part of the 'Race for Life' event. She's been through a tough year health-wise but remains positive and cheerful.
Along the way we put the world to rights, and briefly touch on bucket lists and how it's actually the small everyday moments that are the most important to grab hold of and enjoy.
We lunch in the shopping centre opposite the Frog Clock. This does more than mark the passing of time. It's mechanics are magic (well, a very clever optical illusion) as golden balls of sunshine are trundled along a rail track to feed the Frog and give him energy. Every hour (every half hour today) the Frog springs to life and blows bubbles. People gather with their kids (I haven't got a kid but still gather when I'm passing...) who squeal with the sheer pleasure of being rained on by bubbles. They run after them, reach and stretch for them, giggle when one lands on their hand... and everyone watching giggles with them.
Simple things.
