Suffolk Punch Colt
It's been dry but very windy here today, so I went over to the Suffolk Punch Trust at Hollesley, which is near the coast.
This Suffolk Punch Colt was born on Wednesday, he is so beautiful and perfect and everyone fell in love with him. The mother doesn't belong to the Trust but to a private owner. The mare was covered by the Trust's stallion last year and the owner brought her back to Hollesley to give birth to her foal as she is a first time Mum.
There was another Colt born on Friday to the Trusts mare Colony Olive Three, they were inside the stables and I wasn't able to get a clear photograph of him. He was born in a meadow before they could get Mum into the birthing area but he doesn't seem too concerned about it! Children from a local Special Needs School are being asked to chose a name for him beginning with A. The Trust uses consecutive letters each year and are back at the beginning of the alphabet for this year. It was suggested he could be called 'Al Fresco'!!.
