Sedona's Slide Fire
This Sedona fire has been burning 1 week as of tomorrow, named the Slide Fire for Slide Rock State Park where it began. They don't know if it was set accidently or on purpose at this point but was definitely human caused . The burn has covered over 15,000 acres as of this morning. The winds were light today so the smoke is rising rather than sinking to ground level and I couldn't smell it as I could for the last two days. My nephew went back to work today with the Sedona Fire department for another shift. His last one was for 40 hours. It's hard to imagine that no homes were lost up Oak Creek Canyon as most images show fire down to their back yards. Also there are thousands of homes on the East side of highway 89A from the fire where spot fires were quickly put out.
Edit: at the end of the day 18,500 acres burned.
