Point Lobos

We drove through growing country (where I impulsively bought a nice-looking 1.5lb bottle of wild raspberry honey.. I'm not checking a bag home..) and out to the coast, near Monterey. We stopped for a walk along a chilly Pacific beach and then picnic'ed on crab salad and home-made bread under some pines with the... lovely... call of sea lions on the air. A nice walk out to bird island allowed us to see a wide array of wildlife- from near forests of poison oak and CA poppy to the bays below us, teaming with seals, sea lions, sea otters, nesting cormorants, singing sparrows, and gulls. Hard to say goodbye!
