Catching up after a manic long weekend.

Took an annual visit to view the Ladies Slipper Orchid at Gait Barrows NR. To be truthful we visit here a lot but timing for this botanical beauty is all important as the flowering period is relatively short. I've blipped the orchids before so will spare you the speel again. It was great day for botanizing on our walk we had a good few of the areas specialities; green winged orchid; early purple orchid, herb paris, birdseye primrose, rock rose along with lots of other haymeadow species. ran out of time to go searching for the fly orchids plus one sighting of Duke of Burgundy Fritillary butterfly. Got to use my newly acquired tick remover on Mrs Wild as well! If you are in the locality this week and next weekend should be optimum time to see them. The path is clearly marked, but look and don't touch please.
