THE GARDEN'S LOOKING GOOD!
Having been away for almost a month, I wondered how the garden would look when we got back, although Mr. HCB did come home for a week to work in the garden, so the plants in the greenhouse and his lettuces and runner beans are looking good. He's also very excited as the first tomato has set on one of the plants given to him by our Guernsey friend.
Apart from needing a quick trim, the grass and border are looking good too and there are still lots of heads to open on the poppies, so perhaps the cooler weather has helped to slow things down a bit and they have waited for our return.
We do love being at the coast, but we also miss our garden, so provided the weather is good tomorrow, we shall be out there, mowing and hoeing, weeding and planting.
It's great to go away, but it's always good to come home.
Homer (but not the Simpsons' variety!) who was born about 800 B.C., certainly knew a thing or two when he said:
“There is nothing more admirable
than when two people who see eye to eye
keep house as man and wife,
confounding their enemies
and delighting their friends.”
