Watering The Cactus
This is Brad. I employ him to water my cactus* and take care of what yard I have once a week. I can't physically do it anymore.
You might say, "Why do cactus need to be watered?"
The truth is, mine are still relative babies, very small. And it has been drier than hell here. We had virtually no rain since the fall. Not good.
Now the humidity is hovering at 8% or lower. Cactus suck up moisture through their pads. It is also hot, hot hot! It has been 38 C the last couple of days and will be hotter tomorrow (the overnight lows are only around 21 C). In June, our hottest month of the year, our average temp is 39 C.
So Brad is worth every cent.
(Notice how he's covered up. Most people who work outdoors do this to avoid the harshness of the sun. They also travel with a cooler filled with water.)
*I also have two desert spoons, the red yucca (all succulents), a fledgling ocotillo, and a Texas ranger.
