A Man with a Mission

In the 1950's when strong wintry north easterly winds had
scoured the sands away, beachcombers as they were then
called, walked backwards and forwards along the sands at low
water looking for coins and rings lost by careless holidaymakers
in the summer. Now the task is so much easier. No longer the
wait for Mother Nature to come to man's aid on cold winter
days. But getting started before seven in the morning certainly
helps to stay ahead of the competition as much if not more than
the top of the range detector he is carrying. Being in full time
occupation, he is clearly counted among the larks of this world.
No doubt the tramlines of the sand rake which came along an
hour earlier can be used to great advantage to ensure he never
sweeps the same place twice !
