Back to Blue...
Today's Blip is dedicated to Oscar (our muscovery duck) - he had taken himself into a quiet part of the garden last night and sadly died.
Oscar featured many times on Blip and had lots of lovely comments. He was found on the road to Tobermory about 13 years ago and came to live here at Inishkea.
He had many adventures and was always the boss of the duck family here (pictured) On one occasion he flew off down to the loch and C had help to try and get him back. In the end C used "Danny Champion of the World,' as her inspiration. So raisins laced with whisky and fed to Oscar, in the hope he would sleep, and then could be brought home. Instead Oscar flew further away and then fell into a drunken stupor! In the end C, with help, 'walked' Oscar home!
In actual fact over the past few years he had to be 'walked' home a number of times (no mean feat). A couple of years ago he was sitting on the picnic bench at one of the self-catering houses below whilst the holiday makers were sitting on the house steps! So another rescue mission was set in place.
We are not certain of his age, as we don't know how old he was when he was found, but he had a long happy life here at Inishkea and we will certainly miss him.
