Rocking Pig
This is Rocking Pig. He's very similar to a rocking horse, except he's a pig. He was made by pupils of Farr High School, Betty Hill, Thurso. This is probably one of the most northerly high schools in mainland Britain. I'm only guessing, I'm probably wrong. We bought him about 5 years ago at a fair in Stratford. The fair was a celebration of "Young Enterprise" where pupils set up businesses and create a product to sell. That day was torrential rain and these poor pupils and teachers were finding it difficult to sell their wares in the awful weather. We decided to buy something to help them along. Most schools were selling very similar items - candles, crafts, Christmas cards etc. The school from Betty Hill had travelled about 600 miles, and had the most original items to sell - all manner of rocking animals, and beautifully made.We therefore bought a pig. Our elder grandson first played on it when he was 7 months old, and again on every visit since. Now it's the baby's turn. I don't think it will ever get worn out, but it's a great rocking pig.
