Rub-a-dub-dub - Ronsberg

A typical Swabian-Allgaeu non-tourist "town" or more village but with "Market" rights dating back to the middle ages. A village caught between two worlds and not knowing where to go, at least that's the way it looks to me.

There were 1,671 inhabitants in 2013 compared to 1,665 in 1970. Agriculture is forest & grassland and from the number of small hamlets dotted around it seems the farmers have moved out. There is one big employer, a Finnish paper packaging business with 500 employees. On the Aldi Index, it's 13 km away only 1 km more than we have but while our journey is 90% motorway, in Ronsberg it's country roads and added to that there are no other large stores DIY etc to make the journey worthwhile. There is a butcher and a baker.

It's too far away from the alps to be of interest to tourists and has no attractions that may appeal to commuters from the larger towns and being too far away from motorways to attract any business or commuters from Munich. It's a village ticking over and going about it's business and providing us with our daily milk and egg boxes.

Poor old Ronsberg, a typical sleepy rural village that is part of my daily life. The boring poor photo reflects more the feeling today with the horrible wet & cold (12°C) weather. The view would be much better in sunshine and then all the wonderful attractions of this part of the world would be visually and mentally captured - peace & quiet; good clean, mown grass smelling air; hills; forests; serpentine roads for the motorbike fraternity.......

I was here as the only beekeeping supplier in the area is based in a hamlet just outside the town. The stuff that candlestick makers are made of but I didn't spot any such shop.

Tried taking the dogs for a walk up here but after 10 minutes of rain & wind, they were happy to get back in the car and enjoy the good rub down with a warm towel when we got home.
