Dragons

At Texas Canyon in the Dragoon Mountains.

Four miles from here a treaty was signed in 1872 between the US Army and Cochise, Chief of the Chiricahua Apache Indians ending years of warfare. Rocks like these formed the Cochise Stronghold.

Later today while crossing the Chiricahuan Desert we crossed the Continental Divide. That terrain seemed flat with Yuccas and Mesquite shrubs growing but with no trees. Birds had to build nests on utility poles. It seemed strange that West of this point water flows to the Pacific Ocean. East of here water flows to the Atlantic Ocean.

All told we drove 615 miles to Santa Rosa, New Mexico.
