Old Trees
Near to where I live is an old timber traffic bridge crossing the Swan Estuary that is undergoing some maintenance and safety upgrades.
The old timber is being cut up and stockpiled nearby. Beneath the barnacles and other parasitic communities that thrive on the outside of these giant logs, the fresh saw cuts show the jarrah timber looks as good as they day it was felled.
Much the same as the ~250 year native timber that is being culled to make into wood chips - to make toilet paper I suppose - and the few remnants crafted into exquisite hand made wooden bowls and the like.
