Hills of gorse

We were walking today over in the east of the country; started near Gorebridge and walked up through some pleasant woodland with nice long views at times and then down to Newlandrig and into the Vogrie Country Park where we had some lunch before heading down and along the Tyne Water to Crichton Castle where our walk ended.

I was very impressed by all the blossom, wild flowers that are out at this time of year, the Hawthorn was magnificient. We crossed a hillside covered in gorse, and the coconut scent was quite overpowering.

Weather was nice, sunny and times, dull at times, but no rain and we could walk the whole eight miler walk without jackets, always pleasant.

Had drinks etc in a local hostelry before heading home.
