Maya Angelou rose today

Maya Angelou, poet, novelist, an extraordinary woman gifted with a powerful golden voice has fallen silent at 86. I had the privilege of hearing her speak at my alma mater, Wheelock College, in Boston in the late 80s.

She was a National Treasure.
