Another Weighty Tome

I've finished the first book in the series and am about to start book 2.

I'm not sure whether I enjoyed the first book or not. The plot was ok but it was very violent and blood thirsty. This next one is either going to be more of the same or it'll get worse. Not for the squeamish!
