Not so bad
Gawd what a(nother) dismal day!
Had a very long but fulfilling day at work (lunch break, what's that then?), and a lovely evening to look forward to. A had emailed me a couple of weeks back to say that Harvey Nicks (dahlink) cafe were doing £20 for 2 courses and a glass of prosecco and it'd be rude of us not to go. So, table booked for 6, I escaped the madhouse at 5 and toddled off down to Liz Earle for supplies. I do love the Victoria Quarter, everything's just so out of my price range classy. I also have to stop and watch this fountain - if you turned the sound off, you'd never really be sure whether it's water or ice...
A and I had a lovely dinner - hake & raspberry sponge for her and pea risotto & white chocolate mousse for me, I tell you it was just divine!
Anyway, amongst many other topics of conversation I was telling A about some decisions I've made about myself lately - well, really one decision and some reasons:
I am not so bad.
There are people who quite like talking to me and spending time with me.
I am not so bad.
I'm not waif-like, but I have a nice smile which makes my eyes crinkle (these are laughter lines, not crows feet).
I am not so bad.
I try to be kind to people, and treat them at least as well as I would like to be treated (though I don't always succeed).
I am not so bad.
I am brave. Not fearless, for only fools are completely without fear. But brave.
I am not so bad.
Rinse and repeat...
