Summer Chafer
I had a day of macro photography today. I began at the local nature reserve where I found this summer chafer. The picture doesn't really show how big it was - it was about as long as my thumb and I kept a respectful distance - 15cm minimum focusing distance was the closest I got.
Later, my wife went for a music practice and I was allowed to go through the garden to get to the river to see which birds were around. Not much at that time of day, but the garden was full of flowers, so I got some pleasing insect shots, including a false oil beetle and various other insects. A good day.
