The real thing
Our last day. The four of us drove across the Spanish countryside to Ronda. The journey took nearly two hours through mountains and plains where the farming changed to cornfields and vegetables and large windmills catching the wind on hilltops.
Ronda is an ancient town and is home to Spain's oldest bull ring. We found a nice shady square and had a light meal out on the pavement watching life go by. This is one of N's favourites.
Later we had a short drive to where we were to stay for the night, an old restored farmhouse in a green valley on the edge of a conservation area. What a welcome we had by the owner of the Cortijo and it turns out she is a friend of a cousin of mine from South Africa who now lives in Spain nearby having restored another farmhouse right out in the middle of nowhere. Unfortunately we did not have time to meet up with her.
