Walkies. Again!
Last night, as he was snoozing and whimpering on the sofa, Archie’s tail was wagging like mad. He must have been having nice dreams of endless grass and smells from yesterday’s walk. Cute.
Today we went out again. He likes his kibble, but boy! seagull poo and snails are Very Very Interesting… I always have to check his play area for snails and slugs and tiny wee worms - it’s been so wet. I chuck ‘em over the wall, of course.
We were crossing the path in the Meadows and a young lady in stompy boots was approaching. I crossed to the other side, but Archie stopped and stared at this noisy vision, so that the lead was across the path. He would not budge, so I just apologised. The stompy young lady didn’t mind having to go round us.
Away in the distance were three big dogs all playing together. I headed towards them, but the owners finished their chat and were wandering off. In our direction! The same big woolly labradoodle from yesterday, a Vizsla and a big black lab. Archie was mesmerised, but they all bounded by with barely a glance at him.
We walked down to the playpark, where there were having a nursery party. Hordes of little people in hi-viz jackets, adults in funny hats, and a very noisy parachute game going on. Made me laugh at the typical ‘Scottish summer picnic’ - warm clothes, coats, hats. But the kids didn’t care, and fun was had.
Archie wasn’t too keen on the squealing little voices and kept near my legs, even wanting to be picked up. I read that you weren’t to sympathise if they’re a bit scared - just carry on talking normally and definitely don’t lift them up (unless, of course, they're in danger).
We both had a good look in all the gardens. I was checking out the Victorian paths to see what tiles and borders and steps have been used. Archie was just being nosy.
I’m about to order a barbecue online. This will mean more weeks of torrential rain! Since we got the outdoor furniture we’ve used it about twice.
I see Andy Murray’s match is on this afternoon. That will do Archie and I. He’ll often sit and gaze at the TV before dozing off again.
Actually, we both do that...
