Bald-faced Hornet

Meet our new neighbor... This queen is building a nest on our garage.

Interesting facts: Though named hornet, they are actually a wasp (go figure). They build a football-shaped paper nest, that by summer will contain 100-400 wasps. (YIKES!) Adults will prey on yellow jackets and flies, however, readily sting to defend themselves or their nest.

I'm thinking that we should evict our new neighbor...
