I was in the terminal on Wednesday afternoon when I got a text from Dougie to let me know that Maya Angelou had died. Having been at the boats for the last two days, I'm only now getting the chance to sit down and process that information, and I'm sad. She was an absolutely extraordinary human being, and I found her endlessly inspiring.

Today I'm spending my day off reading I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings for perhaps the hundredth time, and reflecting on the life of this magnificent woman.
