Cygnets

I was walking round the loch at well after 9 pm. I had taken some snaps of the sunset. Then I realised that both our swans were swimming in the middle of the loch. "Who is looking after the eggs?" I thought. But as the swans looked interesting I set camera to maximum telephoto to take a picture. It was only looking at the screen afterwards that I spotted the cygnets. So half a dozen pictures later we have a family group with Mum, Dad and the 5 cygnets.

The big question now is how many will survive. In past years, foxes and Pike have been problematic. But the nest is well protected, so I will be hopeful of a good outcome this year. And as last year we had no eggs or cygnets, it will be good to see this family of swans develop.
