Bargerveen, Drenthe
Bargerveen, in Peatland, was spared because coal began in the early 20th century, rapid strides. It's just a shred compared to what was ever raised bog, but no less special. The live cricket from Bargerveen harbors 220 species of birds, over 30 species of dragonflies and 25 species of butterflies. The silence here in the extreme southeast corner of Drenthe, is deafening, the void un-Dutch.
