Aberlour a’bunadh.

What does one want to do after a work week, a busy day, a cool, rainy night, but to come home to dinner, chat with one's wife and sip a shot of Single Malt? I discovered this one on a wonderful site called "forpeatsake.com" and it instantly became a firm favorite. Abelour A'bunadh is a Speyside which is matured in Spanish Oloroso sherry barrels. First impressions are that this malt is actually a sherry... Then the subtle burned figs and raisins kick in along with the toasted barley and you're in Single Malt Heaven! It is in total contrast to the Single Malts from the Hebrides: burned rubber, sea water, sea weed, heather, diesel fuel - I call it the "U-Boat experience". Not that Ardbeg and Talisker are bad for these things. I love them every bit as much as the Aberlour, but sometimes I just want to be taken to my special Single Malt place, and A'bunadh is happy to oblige.
