Montana Blue

Official name Centaurea montana. Beautiful and hardy and best of all, doesn't droop. We also have a white one but that seems to bloom later.

Went to work an hour early today so Mr M could meet me and then we traveled about 2 hours to a nursery we are especially fond of. We found it about two years ago and immediately loved their selection and variety. It looked a little ramshackle, but was efficiently run, was always busy, and had such a variety. I read on the website that they moved their sale location a mile or so down the road but were keeping the old greenhouses. When we got there today, we were so disappointed. They made the place more fancy and seem to be trying to compete with all the other run of the mill garden centers. The variety was gone, it was the same stuff you find everywhere, and the quantity was also gone. So disappointing. We always looked forward to spending a day in Ithaca and now we won't have a reason to go in the spring. We have to find a new favorite.
