The Tolson Half Pig
A busy day at work meant that I was spoilt for choice when it came to blips. One of my visits was to the Tolson Museum in Huddersfield.
This is the museum’s infamous exhibit "the Half Pig" which recently moved into its new display case.
The Half Pig, which has been here for almost 90 years, shows a skeleton on one side and coat on the other.
The pig was bought for £14 from Gerrard’s taxidermists of London on December 4, 1924, with a grant from the Victoria and Albert Museum.
The Museum Attendant told me that the young Damien Hirst, who grew up in Leeds, used to visit Tolson Museum as a child and maybe this little pig was a source of future inspiration?
The pig has it's own Twitter account and it's rumoured it receives the odd Spam Tweet @TolsonHalf_Pig
