Blue Himalayan Poppy

A friend asked me if I would go to take photos of his Himalayan Poppies in his garden at Uppingham in Rutland. His garden will be open to the public next week under the National Gardens Scheme.

He grows the poppies from seed. They need special conditions: must never dry out, dappled shade. The blue poppies are particularly rare.

The genus is Meconopsis. Several species are growing in the garden, differentiated by colour and shape of leaf.
