Inis Mór 2

A bright and blue sky greeted us as we arose on Inis Mór, the largest of the Aran Islands. There are several ways of getting around the island - a mini bus tour, a horse and cart or a bike. We hired two bikes and set off - a long time since either of us had had a pedal! It was fantastic, we went everywhere - down tiny green roads with high walls, up hills to explore the remains of ancient churches, along the partially ruined sea road swept away in recent storms, joined the throngs to marvel at the sheer enormity of the Dún Aeonghus, a huge fort built right on the sea cliffs and paddled in the crystal clear, but very cold, sea.
When we returned we were glowing with aching muscles we didn't even know we had. So exhilarating.
