A furnace in Furnace
Went to Oban last night to meet a friend for fish & chips before driving on to Edinburgh for Gardening Scotland. Unfortunately there had been a biker fatality just north of Oban at Pennyfuir, so the road was closed and my friend must have been stuck in the queue. I had to back-track and go via Lochgilphead and Inveraray.
Going through Furnace the light was so good that I took a quick detour down into the village and took a picture of the old iron furnace which gave the village its name. It was built in 1755 and closed down in 1813.
