Singing in the sun
I am a day behind.......so this was yesterday
It was market day ! Yay !
The band played a farmer's market in Brunswick. What a blast. We had a great time and stood for three hours and sang. Did I get any pictures? No! This is one of my lilacs, they had them for sale there. It's symbolic people . Sigh.........,I am so deep.
Someday I want to do a book about the children of the market. These kids are a riot. I love the ones who pick out their own outfits for the day. This whole generation is being encouraged instead of stifled. So, I will not hold them accountable to the fashion police.
One little girl had striped legging things, striped shirts, striped sweater , hat and socks respectively. Oh and there were polka dot boots involved. I am going with the belief that it was divorced daddy day. He was totally in love with this little girl and was indulging the heck out of her.
Fashion is big at the market. For some. I love the not pretentious people who come in to buy, see friends, chat with a few people and smile and maybe have a kid or two in tow with their reusable bags.
Then you have the lady in high heeled sandals, peasant skirt, peasant blouse (with extremely visible undergarments) and a hat. This is all on an uneven pasture. That was amusing.
There was an older woman, I would guess 70s, boy would she be pissed that the face lift really didn't cover that. with a completely confusing outfit, including a pair of yoga pants, safari shirt ( I am so not kidding) complete with a belt in navy, sandals (with jewels) , a straw cowboy hat and carrying a Hermes bag. I am not kidding. I know a Hermes bag when I see it. If this was you I am sorry but OMG we need to talk
I am amazed at the dichotomy of people in Maine. You have the poorest of the poor and the wealthiest of the wealthy. They mix at the farmers market. Oh and forgive me but, At what point do children stop breast feeding? 6 or 7 maybe? I think if they can carry a new baby, it may be time to wean. I am not being judgmental just confused.
Either way I love the spirit of the market. I bought tons of rhubarb to freeze, lobster ravioli, hand pies with curried peas, miscellaneous veggies. (and I hope not lamb as it makes me violently ill , I'll be finding that out for lunch today) , I bought goat cheese, sheep cheese (new for me) and boring old cow cheese. I love the market. Next week we are at the Cumberland farmers market. More fun and just as much dichotomy.
I went to LLBean in the afternoon where I met a man from Australia..........and have no idea what he said.....I just loved his accent. I find accents fascinating. We don't have them here in Maine. :)
Then I bought a FitBit. More about that tomorrow ( today)
Until them goodnight and g'day!
