Ichneumon Wasp
Spent a couple of hours at the Shefford Fete, didn't get every interesting photos but thought I'd have to use one for a blip. When I got home saw this insect near a hole in some wood. Googled it and discovered it's a "Ichneumon Wasp". The long tail is the ovipositor. She saws down into the wood with it to lay her eggs on Wasp grubs. When they hatch they eat the Wasp grubs. Nice!. I have looked in the hole and there does appear to be a wasp grub.
