Brunel was Conning Us!!

That chap Brunel was conning us all along. Made us think he had built this massive steam engine when really it was driven by electricity . . .

Today we detoured to Bristol to make a second visit to the SS Great Britain, this time to take a look at the Brunel Institute. It was shut! Hopefully it will be open next Saturday.

The first time we visited the SS Great Britain the heavens opened up, and our tour was confined to all things under cover. This time we were able to do the weather deck, and shock horror – looking through the engine room skylight we could see that Mr Brunel had been cheating and the electric motor that he had sneaked in was clearly in view! Steam powered my foot . . .
