The Aberdeen – Royal Deeside KiltWalk

Today over 1,400 walkers had an amazing day, walking the Old Deeside line for KiltWalk day. I spent a short period at PeterCulter Station watching the lead walkers pass.

Carey McEvoy founded The Kiltwalk in 2011 and dedicated
every moment of his spare time for the next 12 months to
establishing the brand. Went full time in August 2012 and
now has the best job in the World.

Previously Carey created TACC in 2006 and led the charity
to raise over £500k for children in Scotland and overseas before
stepping down as CEO to concentrate on The Kiltwalk.

2011
The Kiltwalk was founded as a new Scottish charity (SCIO) in October 2011 following the success of the "TACC Kiltwalk" in 2010 and 2011.

Three of Scotland's leading children's charities enthusiastically agreed to join TACC as the main joint beneficiaries: CHAS, Aberlour Child Care Trust and CLIC Sargent.

With these 4 charity partners on board The Kiltwalk hoped to appeal to a wide section of the Scottish public in 2012.

2012
The year started off successfully with the Hampden to Loch Lomond Kiltwalk (26 miles) attracting 800 walkers in April.

On the same day 150 adults and children took part in the 10km Wee Walk around Balloch County Park.

With support from Scotland Manager Craig Levein, Real Radio/Cat Harvey, Irn Bru, Highland Spring, Loch Lomond Shores, Satty Singh and the Scottish FA, the day was a great success despite the rain. The partner charities also took part in the day by providing a welcome refreshments pit stop en route

The final event of the year is the Angus Kiltwalk in October

2013 and on into 2014 has been even more successful. With the Aberdeen – Deeside walk one of the major yearly events.
