This Work

This photo was taken in San Diego at the Wharton GBTA action learning program just before we moved to TN.
It makes me mindful of what is distinctive in my work.
A long cycle (41 years) to make sense of.
Teaching as "fieldwork".
Consulting as "bricolage"
Facilitating learning,
Making connections across domains and disciplines,
Reframing questions.
Writing follow up notes to students and clients of all stripes and sizes.
Faces with short histories.
Seeing.
"Just glimpses".
Moments observed and remembered.
This work often invisible to others.
Always, learning from others as fellow travelers.
Now, PT teaching, Act 3, autonomy, leveraging my know how.
Working with GBTA, GSP, Penske, ACP, IMS, Evonik, other clients.
The diversity, a plus.
Now, limited travel, another plus.
Then, starting out, hungry, learning a craft.
Padua Academy, 1973-74; GMC, 1975-80; PSU Continuing Education in late 70s.
Later consulting at KTSG and CFAR.
Intellectual craftsmanship.
Working on "live"issues.
Integrative and multidisciplinary thinking.
A reflective practioneer,
More a seeker, a philosopher at heart, than an an academic researcher.
Grateful for this work
With its idiosyncratic and humane character.
Work that plays to my deep interests and core strengths.
Mindful that in this work we often teach that which we most what to learn.
What did I learn ?
I need to answer that question.
