On The Waterfront
On the Waterfront is a 1954 American crime drama film about union violence and corruption amongst longshoremen.
The film was directed by Elia Kazan and written by Budd Schulberg.
It stars Marlon Brando and features Karl Malden, Lee J. Cobb, Rod Steiger, and, in her film debut, Eva Marie Saint.
It is based on Crime on the Waterfront, detailing widespread corruption, extortion, and racketeering on the waterfronts of Manhattan and Brooklyn.
This waterfront is a far cry from the waterfront of Manhattan or Brooklyn, it's the mornings at Hilary's boat harbour, but with a good imagination you could perhaps believe you are there without the mobsters and racketeering, the only thugs were the seagulls swooping around for any spoils ..
