Day 49: hiking and hanging with friends
Today was a pretty big day filled with lots of fun. I took so many pictures it was hard to pick just one! I ended up picking a photo of the group Stephen and I have joined. They have been such a blessing to our family and I'm so happy they took us in and made us feel welcomed. We've gotten to see them a lot this week and tonight was another little hang out. It was bittersweet because it was also a "farewell" of sorts to one of the couples. Kesa and Tristen were actually the first people to invite is to the group and we are so thankful for them. They have gotten the opportunity to move closer to family so today was a celebration for them. God will do amazing things with these two. Aside from having a fun evening with friends Preslee and I had a little adventure of our own. Long story short, there's this bridge that crosses the Arkansas River and every time I drive by it I see bikers and hikers crossing it but I could never see any roads that lead to it. So today I decided that Preslee and I were going to find our way over there. I googled it, found an address and we were on our way. Well the address took me to a parking lot at a trail head. A couple bikers told me that the bridge was about a mile down the trail. I didn't really expect to go on a hike (I've seen a parking lot right at the base of the bridge and I thought that's where my gps was taking me) but I thought, "eh, what's a couple miles?" We hiked a mile according to my phone and didn't see any bridges. The trail was absolutely beautiful but it was scorching hot out and I didn't know how much longer I'd be pulling this wagon with a toddler, a dog, fifty pounds of snacks (Always prepared), and five water bottles. So we took a snack break, duh, turned around and went back to the car. We'll try to find the bridge again another day.
