Catherine Lacey: BoyStory

Agapanthus and Pajamas

I've been missing from here for what feels like an eternity.

And since my last confession, I mean, Blip, I have:

- been interviewed on TV via a last minute appeal to "get to school in the next 5 minutes the TV crews are here", defending Reuben's right to have a campus for school in August yes that's me on TV looking so unkempt.
- been to Las Vegas
- been to the Grand Canyon and suffered a terrible panic attack on that glass bridge but overcame it momentarily of course to get a great picture. The fear I'll add from acrophobia never goes away, that pain in my feet, wanting to jump. Acrophobia, not vertigo as its often mistakenly called. A rather dangerous fear
- captured a wedding on Saturday, my favourite and most creative yet actors bring my imagination to life in their wedding photographs
- captured a bat mitzvah
- designed a bat mitzvah album
- delivered close to 6,000 images to clients
- had my image of Reuben's birthday showcased in the Los Angeles Times as the Best of Southern California Moments for May Los Angeles Times feature
- barely seen the boys. I shall stop right there. I can't wait for life to slow down and when I'm stopping work for the summer the day that Callum graduates from preschool.

Since I've barely had the headspace to think and neglecting this leads to making mistakes which can have some troubling consequences. So today, I just had to say, enough. I can't keep saying yes.

And I just had a few minutes in the garden with the boys and then cuddled them for the next hour.
