Sheoak tree in flower

Thanks to all of my blip friends for the wonderful comments on my photo yesterday of Rajah.

It was a quick dash into the park this morning, before the rain set in. I had seen a unique tree in flower last weekend, so went back today to catch it before the delicate pink blossom disappears.

It's a sheoak tree, that is really more of a bushy shrub than a typical tree. This is the drooping variety and it is said to be endemic to South Australia. I suspect it is not that well known outside of our state. It has a nut or seedpod, much like a gum nut. It made a good focal point.

You probably will agree that sheoak is a very odd name for a tree!
